Ergo-Mechanics: A Certified Training Course for Ergonomics + Biomechanics for Preventing Work-Related Injuries in Diagnostic Ultrasound!

The first of its kind ground breaking certified course for preventing work related musculoskeletal injuries and disorders in sonography finally arrived and begins June 1st 2021! This is a monumental step in the right direction when it comes to providing the tools and resources necessary to begin reducing the incidence rate of injury for the diagnostic sonographer. Currently it is reported that 90% of diagnostic medical sonographer’s in the field are currently scanning and symptomatic pain. What that looks like financially is a price tag for employers to the tune of $120 Billion annually and the cost associated directly and indirectly with these injuries.

Training until this moment has focused mostly on external safety needs and measures… the equipment, the patient, HIPAA, Bloodborne pathogens, etc. This has helped train the DMS’s mind as to where the focus should be when it comes to a safe workplace and how to be a valuable and effective healthcare provider. This mindset has kept the sonographer from realizing and understanding what will happen internally to their bodies from performing the tasks and clinical job duties of the job leading to a dramatic and alarmingly high rate of injury and MSK disorders in the field.

The negative perpetuation of physical pain does nothing to increase quality patient or provider care, leaving the practices to figure out why their techs are always getting hurt or are reporting painful symptoms when scanning. Without effective enforcement, accountability, or advocation within the Sonography Industry when it comes to WRMSDs, we’re perpetuating the wrong stuff.

This course will focus on defining MSDs, WRMSDs, Sonographer Shoulder and body. We will teach on common disorders specific to ultrasound, how DMSs should optimize their own MSK health to avoid muscle, nerve, and tendon injuries and discuss both functional and disruptive physiology pertinent to clinical job duties and responsibilities.

We’ll discover the dominating risks causing injury and disorders as well as learn how to create a new mindset for safety that hones in on intentional cognitive effort to create dynamic behaviors that will give the trainee the tips, tricks, and tools of the trade to stay safe. We’re offering an opportunity to learn how create a new internal mindset in addition to the external ones that keep EVERYONE safe in sonography. The field is growing and so are the injuries and fears that an experienced tech will just be replaced with a young uninjured one so they keep truckin along until it’s over. That shit has just got to stop! We deserve to do our work in a SAFE way and that includes training in ways we simply haven’t been offered before because IT. DID. NOT. EXIST. And it was NOT easy to make!

We cannot effectively or efficiently take care of another human being if we are not taking care of ourselves. In a post pandemic setting this has been more important than ever and with the new resources available, now is the time to say YES to SAFETY!

Ultrasafe Ultrasounds is now proud to present the brand new Ergo-Mechanics Course for the prevention of WRMSDs from performing diagnostic ultrasound starting June 1st – Aug 5th x Tue & Thur with morning and evening classes available to fit any schedule. (and yes you can jump back and forth, lol… I get that question a lot.

Come perpetuate positivity, productivity, and peace of mind to do your job to take care of another human being while being the best you can for yourself too! Come to get educated and empowered! To build the bridge to FINALLY achieve Safety in Sonography. One brick at a time, together!

Are you ready to grab your brick? Let’s do this!
